Niche Products Sell Online

Learning how to find a niche for an online business is pretty straightforward and can result in earnings of at least $500 per month. Find products that are relevant to your niche because niche products sell online.

Even so, to create a niche website can be one of the hardest things to do online, but at the same time, it can be very easy if you find a great training platform.  My #1 recommendation for that is Wealthy Affiliate.  Check out my thorough review of what Wealthy Affiliate has to offer.

There are some people that can pull in thousands and thousands of dollars with niche sites and products. The ones who are doing that are the people who have proficient skills in technology such as programming, SEO skills and other areas that most of us don’t possess.

That doesn’t stop us from wanting to be a part of the online business community. Therefore, if you don’t have those specific skills, you will have to use the resources of those that do.

Niche = A Topic of Interest

Niche = A Topic of Interest

 What Is a Niche?

To begin, you first need to understand what a niche is! It’s really very simple. A niche means a “topic”. You need to choose a niche (topic) for your website that you have a passion about or at least are interested in.

The reason you have to have a lot of interest in your niche is that initially you will be eating, sleeping and breathing your niche. If you choose something that is not interesting you will soon get bored with it and lose the energy you will need to do what will be needed to become successful with your website.

You will also need to consider whether you really are planning to make income on the internet with a niche website or if it will only be a hobby. If it is your plan to earn an income, you should consider the marketplace. Some niches will make money better than others.

 Brainstorm Niche Topics

Make a written list of as many topics (niche) for website ideas as you can think of that you have an interest in. The list could include every product, hobby or interests that you could possibly build a website around. Don’t try to analyze the topic in this step.

One Thought Leads to Another

 Narrow Down the Niche

In this step, you need to tighten the niche to be a more specific, focused topic. You don’t want to market a niche that is too broad. Narrow your niche down by considering the following criteria:

  • Is there an extensive collection of merchandise you can review and talk about?
  • Use products that are higher in price but will require fewer sales.
  • Are there related affiliate programs that pay a good rate of commissions?
  • Are others currently making money in the niche?
  • Will you be able to write at least 100 articles on the topic? Or pay someone?

Online marketing is a very crowded area these days. So, using a very narrow niche has the most potential for making money. For example, your niche may be “losing weight”.

However, if you want to be successful you will need to be more specific to narrow it down. So that your niche will be narrowed down, you may want to go with “how to lose belly fat” instead.

“Losing weight” could cover a myriad of topics. But, narrowing it down allows you to focus on losing belly fat, a specific area.

Because you will choose a topic that you are passionate about, you should be able to narrow your niche down to a very specific topic in no time. Begin with a general topic, and then drill down to a subtopic, then to an even smaller subtopic and so on.

To help out, you could always use Jaaxy (a keyword tool) to help narrow your niche down.

Narrowing down your niche will allow you to situate yourself as the “go to person” in your specific niche. Visitors will be able to locate you more readily and will most likely return to your website over and over again.

But, more importantly, the visitors will be ready to purchase your products or services. When you narrow down your niche, people will understand exactly what you are offering. This could help your website rank higher in the search engines.

Create Your Website

If you don’t know anything about building a website, don’t worry. You can build your website at Wealthy Affiliate because they will help you every step of the way. They will also provide a free starter website.

Create Content

After you have built the foundation of your website, you can start to create the content for your pages and posts. I recommend that you follow the tutorial that you will be provided at Wealthy Affiliate because what I indicate here is simply a starting suggestion.

  • Write content for each of the website menu pages.
  • Write at least 3 in-depth “How to” articles for the niche.
  • Write at least 3 posts.
  • Continue to repeat this process until there are at least 100 articles on the niche.

Keyword Research

It is wise to perform a keyword search to get about five to ten good keyword terms and products to try and rank for. I recommend Wealthy Affiliate to obtain the step-by-step training.

Jaaxy is a site that has all things “keywords”. Jaaxy will provide a trial of 30 free keyword searches. Wealthy Affiliate will also provide a free keyword tool when you become a member.

Join Affiliate Programs

Now it’s time to research affiliate programs. I recommend that you join some affiliate programs that relate to your niche website. You will need to sign up individually for each separate affiliate program. You will usually need to go to the website of that affiliate to research the requirements and commission plans of the affiliate.

Time to Tell the World

Now that your website is up and running, it is time to let the world know you have arrived!!

  • Make a list of all your friends, acquaintances and colleagues.
  • Setup social media for your website with Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and possibly Instagram.
  • Create a list of all the large blogs and syndicated publications you would like to be featured in according to your budget.
  • Make contact with blogs and websites that allow guest posts or story ideas.
  • Make a good PDF or email series to help you collect email addresses. This should be added to your website.
Tell everyone about your new website

Shout about your new website everywhere you go to get it seen!

Keep Your Website Fresh

Stay on top of your site. Keep building the promotion of your website through social media and links for SEO because stale links will be discounted with Google, which will lower your page rankings.

Final Thoughts

You can actually create a website around almost anything if you are enthusiastic enough about the niche. Think of your website like a blog because with a blog you are required to write a lot of content about one specific topic and the content has to be exceptionally good. This is a must if you want to be successful.

The reason most people fail at niche marketing is that they choose a topic that they have no interest in. If you have no interest and no real knowledge about the niche you will burn out before you even get started, not making even one dollar.

Therefore, understand that choosing the right niche is one of the most important decisions you will make about your online business.

People always say they don’t have any good ideas. I’m sure if you put your mind to it you could think of anywhere from fifty to a hundred potential niche ideas. Think of one niche then use a keyword tool to search that topic to see what additional topics will come up.

Every time you create a page or post to your website you come that much closer to opening a door for someone to find your site. Things will not happen overnight, but you have to be all in for the long term.

If you do the hard work on the front end, you will be compensated with owning an online business and an advantage that will generate passive income for you in the future.

Niche is a specific topic. With this being said, I’m sure everyone can come up with many niches in their mind. It could be something we do in our daily or something that we were having trouble with but then find a solution.

Of course choosing a niche can have its own challenge. But basically, anything we do can be a niche. We just need to ensure it’s something we’ll be comfortable to involve in.

      Hi Zee,

I have had many people tell me that they can’t think of anything for a niche. I always suggest that they start by writing down things that they like and you would be surprised at how many things that they can come up with. Once they start writing them down it’s like they can’t stop!

I agree with you that the niche should be something that they have interest in because if not, they will soon get bored with it and it won’t be an enjoyable experience for them.

Thanks for dropping by and checking out my article. Let me know if you have any questions. I am here to help.

Getting a niche for my website has always been a problem from the start. I’ve started very broad and all over the places. As a result, I got little to no traffic in the first 6 months.

Then, I decided to concentrate on a single topic and starts to see an increase in traffic. I think now I will need to tweak the content to solve problems for the target audience.
